J. Matney Wyatt
Forensic Chemist
Defense Forensic Science Center
US Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory This lecture will focus on the expertise and experiences of a forensic chemist working within the Department of Defense's criminal investigation laboratory and teach the basics of fiber comparisons and textile damage. Together we will walk through the typical way a fiber comparison case is processed from case evaluation to collections and concluding with comparisons. Textile examinations encompass a wide range of different types of cases from sexual assaults to murder. They are an integral examination conducted at most modern forensic science laboratories.

Join EKU's chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Alliance for the last movie in our First Friday Film Series! We will be watching The Soloist. Los Angeles columnist Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) has reached an impasse in his life. His marriage is on the rocks, and he's disillusioned with his job. Then, while wandering through L.A.'s Skid Row, he spots a homeless man (Jamie Foxx) playing a two-stringed violin with a virtuoso's skill. Lopez initially thinks of the man, named Nathaniel Ayers, as just a story idea. But as he begins to unravel the mystery of Ayers' strange fate, Lopez realizes that a change is happening within himself. This is a FREE event. However, we will be collecting toiletry donations for EKU's Upward Bound program.
