In addition to having an awesome time, students that participate in the trip will be eligible to apply as a leader for future fall, winter, spring and summer breaks. The College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences (CLASS) is offering a $500 stipend to a graduating student to present a commencement speech at the Spring 2019 Graduation Ceremony. To be eligible,you must have applied for Spring or Summer 2019 Graduation within CLASS. •Speeches should be about 4-5 minutes in length, which is about 3-4 pages of double-spaced text.
•MSWord or Rich Text Format, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, with normal one-inch margins
•At the top of text please include full name, EKU ID number, major, expected degree, and department. Submit speeches before the end of the day Friday, March 22nd, by sending an e-mail attachment of the text to Dr. Amy Thieme at amy.thieme@eku.edu. We are going to be donating our decorated boxes to ensure that students don’t go empty handed this Valentine’s Day!

Event Speaker: Dr. Qin Zhao from WKU It has been argued that the high achievement of Confucian Asian students is at the cost of their psychological well-being, since high self-doubt consistently accompanies their high achievement. However, other researchers cautioned that the attitude toward self-doubt could be different in Asian versus Western cultures. This talk will examine the idea of self-doubt through a survey of both American and Chinese college students. (Event will count for SONA credit for Psychology students)
