The EKU Division of Natural Areas is pleased to announce the availability of funding for graduate and undergraduate students, up to $500 plus free lodging, to conduct research at one or more of EKU's Natural Areas as part of their study: Maywoods Environmental and Educational Laboratory, Lilley Cornett Woods Appalachian Ecological Research Station, and Taylor Fork Ecological Area. The deadline to apply is 1 April 2019. Guidelines for proposals and more information can be found at  http://naturalareas.eku.edu/student-grant-aid-program. To date, we have funded 20 research projects!!

In this course, you will learn about the wide variety of career options in the recreation field, hear from professionals, and learn more about the Recreation and Park Administration Department here at EKU!There are two five week, one credit hour, courses left during the spring 2019 semester. EKU Public Safety is hosting our R.A.D. Program (Women's Self Defense) on February 22nd from 6-10PM AND February 23rd from 9AM-6PM. This is a 12 hour (2 day) course. The College of Letters, Arts, & Social Sciences (CLASS) is offering a $500 stipend to a graduating student to present a commencement speech at the Spring 2019 Graduation Ceremony. To be eligible,you must have applied for Spring or Summer 2019 Graduation within CLASS. •Speeches should be about 4-5 minutes in length, which is about 3-4 pages of double-spaced text.
•MSWord or Rich Text Format, double-spaced, in 12-point Times New Roman font, with normal one-inch margins
•At the top of text please include full name, EKU ID number, major, expected degree, and department. Submit speeches before the end of the day Friday, March 22nd, by sending an e-mail attachment of the text to Dr. Amy Thieme at amy.thieme@eku.edu. To celebrate Chinese New Year 2019, the year of the pig, Shuling Studio from Lexington will present authentic Chinese folk dance and Chinese fashion show at EKU. The audience will experience a variety of dances with classic Chinese props such as fans and umbrellas. Folk dance from ethnic groups like Han, Mongolian, and Dai will illustrate different tradition and culture. Fashions with a theme of Chinese blue porcelain art will draw another kind of beauty. This event is sponsored by the University Diversity Office through the annual diversity grant.
