Diane Parrish: Founder of Making a Difference Now (MADN): MADN is a Lexington-based nonprofit animal welfare organization that addresses animal welfare issues, with a special focus on pet overpopulation Dave Cooper: Program Coordinator of Animal Rescue in Appalachia (part of the Kentucky Dog Project) Description:
As the coal-based economy in eastern Kentucky declines, petty crime has increased, and many people have acquired guard dogs to protect their belongings. This presentation will focus on the treatment of these animals and the animal over-population issues in the coalfields. A new program designed to help chained backyard dogs in Appalachia will be presented along with other solutions that can relieve animal suffering.

Scholarship Opportunities Now Available for Graduate and Undergraduate College of Education Students Applications are now being accepted for the 2019-2020 College of Education Scholarships Program. Scholarship descriptions, application instructions, and required application forms are available at https://coe.eku.edu/Student-Scholarships. Students who will be enrolled in Fall 2019 or who have applied for admission in Fall 2019 are eligible to apply for College of Education Scholarships. Come see what all the fuss is about and learn about women's experiences from all over the world! The 15th annual EKU Vagina Monologues will be staged nightly, February 27, February 28, and March 1, 2019, in O’Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building. Merchandise (buttons, t-shirts, and chocolate pops) will be sold by the Alphabet Center before each performance. All proceeds from tickets, merchandise, and donations will go to Ampersand Sexual Violence Resources Center of the Bluegrass, Hope’s Wings Domestic Violence Shelter, and the V-Day Foundation. On each night, tickets go on sale in the box office at 6:00 p.m., doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7:00. The February 28 performance includes ASL interpretation.
