EKU students can shine a bright light on the issues, successes, and resources concerning first-generation students. Submit a proposal to present at Kentucky’s inaugural Gen 1 Conference on November 8, 2019, at Eastern Kentucky University. Presenting provides an opportunity to build one’s professional network and share valuable information with professionals working to better serve first-generation students. Specific information on proposal submissions can be found at https://firstgen.eku.edu/callproposals. Note that we are also seeking proposals for a “Power Talk” that lends insight on and inspiration for first-generation students. The deadline for proposals is August 15th.

Want to chill and play some games before finals? Then come to the final Game & Dev meeting of the semester! Anyone can bring in any game they like, and we'll even be showcasing some games created by students this semester!

In an effort to divert reusable goods from entering our landfills the Office of Sustainability has partnered with EKU Housing and Facilities on a Sustainable Move Out. Your donations to the following organizations will directly benefit your fellow students, residents of Madison County, and children across the world. Donation bins are located in your lobby. Ask your RA about larger items such as mini fridges. Colonel’s Cupboard/Upward Bound – non-perishable food, gently used clothing, unopened toiletries, and accessories such as backpacks
Salvation Army – housewares & office supplies
Habitat for Humanity ReStore – furniture & appliances
International Book Project – Lightly used books

Did you know your Vet-Success Counselor visits the Stratton Building, every Thursday from 1:00 to 2:30 pm, to answer all your VA benefit related questions? Steve Johnson will be at the Stratton Building today starting at 1:00 pm, so he can answer benefit questions, assist with tutoring help, give assistance through the food pantry, and any other needs you have on campus. Additionally, if you are running out of Post 911 benefits and have a service connected disability, he can assist with another program. Come and see him today at the Stratton Building if you need assistance or have questions!

Maywoods is the place to be this Saturday, May 4 from 10 am - 3 pm. Family and friends of all ages will enjoy the day participating in hands-on, engaging outdoor activities, such as fishing, looking for critters in the creek and constructing a raft to float an egg. Plus, the will be lunch concessions and lunchtime music performance. It is always a great day!
Pre-registration is encourage, but not required.

The Main Library is open 24 hours daily until Thursday, May 9 so you can have constant access to library resources and study spaces. A security guard is stationed to help ensure overnight safety. Please use the Main Lobby entrance and present your EKU student ID for entry between midnight-7:00 a.m.

Interested in hearing from a former Marine fighter pilot? LtCol McGrath will be coming to EKU to speak about her experiences in the military as a pilot. This event will be perfect for anyone who is curious about a military career, an aviation career, or just looking for a great talk with an amazing patriot - all are welcome! We will also have representatives for the aviation program available for all who are curious. Join the EKU Women in Aviation chapter this FRIDAY, May 3rd!
