In an effort to divert reusable goods from entering our landfills the Office of Sustainability has partnered with EKU Housing and Facilities on a Sustainable Move Out. Your donations to the following organizations will directly benefit your fellow students, residents of Madison County, and children across the world. Donation bins are located in your lobby. Ask your RA about larger items such as mini fridges. Colonel’s Cupboard/Upward Bound – non-perishable food, gently used clothing, unopened toiletries, and accessories such as backpacks
Salvation Army – housewares & office supplies
Habitat for Humanity ReStore – furniture & appliances
International Book Project – Lightly used books

About the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act being introduced in Congress and what it means for you.
How to become an effective climate change advocate in the community.
How to have productive meetings with legislators.
What other communities are doing successfully.
How to build bridges on climate policy across partisan divides. This event is in collaboration with Citizens’ Climate Education, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization empowering a variety of people to become advocates for a sustainable world.

EKU students can shine a bright light on the issues, successes, and resources concerning first-generation students. Submit a proposal to present at Kentucky’s Inaugural Gen 1 Conference on November 8, 2019, at Eastern Kentucky University. Presenting provides an opportunity to build one’s professional network and share valuable information with professionals working to better serve first-generation students. Specific information on proposal submissions can be found at https://firstgen.eku.edu/callproposals. Note that we are also seeking proposals for a “Power Talk” that lends insight on and inspiration for first-generation students. The deadline for proposals is August 15th.

The Main Library is open 24 hours daily until Thursday, May 9 so you can have constant access to library resources and study spaces. A security guard is stationed to help ensure overnight safety. Please use the Main Lobby entrance and present your EKU student ID for entry between midnight-7:00 a.m.

Happening tomorrow!-Spend your last week of the semester soaking up the sun and some music at Rock the Ravine! For our May graduates, this is also your Senior Send Off. Seniors will receive a free Big E Pint glass as a gift from the EKU Alumni Office! While seniors will be celebrated – this event is opened to all students and the community. Our musical performance will be brought to us by Magnolia Vail. Food trucks will be present to purchase dinner and dessert: Apollo Pizza, Straight from Texas BBQ, and Kona Ice. We look forward to celebrating the end of another great semester with you!
