Our AmeriCorps KY Ready Corps program is recruiting members to serve in 2020-2021. We seek members to serve at sites in and around Madison County on projects focused on emergency/disaster readiness, resilience and response, including the COVID-19 crisis. Current and past service sites include Madison County Health Department, EKU Public Safety, City of Lexington/Global Lex, food pantries/banks, and the Catholic Action Center's garden project in Lancaster. Members serve one or two semesters, about 15-25 hours per week. Benefits include a modest living allowance, education award at end of service, and valuable professional experience. Service can count as internship or other course credit. Deadline: August 1. Join the staff of the EKU Counseling Center today for a Workshop on organization and planning. The organization and planning module of the Feel Better Fast series will be aimed to help establish a routine to help with managing your day. We will work to establish a daily schedule to help you plan and prioritize your day. Additionally, we will brainstorm ways to increase your motivation and make it easier to initiate tasks, while hopefully making your day more enjoyable. Free QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) gatekeeper training for suicide prevention for faculty, staff, and students will be offered via the meeting platform, Zoom.
As a QPR-trained gatekeeper, you will learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to help someone find the help they may need. Help save the life of a friend, colleague, or family member in need.
