Storm water is defined by US EPA as the runoff generated when precipitation from rain and snowmelt events flows over land or impervious surfaces without percolating into the ground. In most cases, storm water flows directly to water bodies through storm water sewer systems, and can contribute and be a major source of pollution to rivers, lakes, and the ocean. So, it is very important we protect our vast water sources from pollutants. Here at EKU we take storm water quality seriously. If you witness an illicit discharge or an illegal dumping on campus, please notify Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) through emergency dispatch by dialing 9-1-1 or 622-1111. Thank you for your assistance in keeping campus storm water pollutant free!
