Support without Borders is an affirming support group for multicultural students and international students. This is a weekly virtual support group provided by the EKU Counseling Center and hosted through a secure video platform. This group is for individuals that have been negatively impacted by growing up in an alcoholic, drug addicted or otherwise unpredictable family environment. Topics often discussed include understanding the impact of these family patterns, learning how to recognize and develop healthy relationships, and addressing negative beliefs about oneself. Move the Tissues is trauma-informed yoga for trauma survivors. This group incorporates restorative yoga poses and movements to gently support survivors as they move through the process of trauma recovery. In this series, speakers will engage the EKU community in conversations on racism, resistance, and reconciliation in order to help the EKU community better understand the complex historical emergence, internationalization, and institutionalization of racism and white supremacy, the past and current efforts at resisting it, and some imaginative ways of addressing the wrongs of the past for a more just world. Join the staff of the EKU Counseling Center today for a workshop on Mindfulness. Being isolated in quarantine can lead to spending a lot of time on various activities that take your attention away from the present moment. Practicing mindfulness can be a great opportunity to improve your mental health by challenging yourself to be present and aware of your thoughts and feelings. In this workshop, you will learn tools that can help you practice mindfulness and work towards reducing and preventing stress, anxiety, depression, as well as many other concerns you may be experiencing.
