Roll-out Details
Who: All tenured/tenure-track faculty and university librarians.
- Eligible faculty members who are currently using a laptop issued through IT.
- New tenured/tenure-track faculty for Fall 2009 term.
What: A laptop/docking station computer system.
- The laptop computer, travel power cord and carrying case will be replaced. The current docking station, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and dock power supply will remain in place.
- Laptops will include wireless Ethernet capabilities, DVD-R storage device, 250GB hard drive storage and 4GB RAM.
- Faculty may choose either a Windows or Macintosh configuration.
- Each system will be pre-configured with Microsoft Office plus all recommended virus protection, networking and utility software.
When: New laptops will be distributed April/May 2009.
Phase I - Laptop roll out
Faculty Laptop Project
Faculty are being scheduled by building to exchange the old nc6320 HP laptops for new 6930p HP laptops . This exchange is for tenured and tenure-track faculty who received an HP laptop from the university. It does not apply to those who received computers from their college or department.
Macintosh exchanges are scheduled for April 14, 22, 30 and May 15. New Mac Power books (with 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB memory) are being provided.
